Rarely do I find that a book takes me to a different land and places me there so completely that it seems as real as the one that I am in daily. I loved the characters and found them and their surroundings to be a very visual and sometimes auditory experience.There is a safe and hopeful feeling in the world of Lillybeth and Hinsberth, even as their adventures are anything but safe. I couldn’t wait to pick up the book again.
I would recommend this book as a family read, as each chapter will spark heartfelt conversations.

Love this book! The story is about a pair of ducklings but they very closely resemble humans. They get into all sorts of adventures. Beautifully described, a real feel good book! Also contains some great words to build your kid's vocabulary.
Mr. Markel has written a timeless and charming tale, one whose style harkens back to a time when intelligent parents read smart stories to their kids. It shirks neither from the use of a rich vocabulary nor from some of the harsher realities of of life, posing subtle philosophical questions about the nature of our world and life. Lillybeth and Hinsberth easily draws the reader into an intricately conceived world where ducks conduct themselves with more dignity than many humans. Only one complaint I would have loved to see more of Mr. Markel's lovely illustrations sprinkled throughout the book.
Great chapter book for read aloud fun before bed. Parents will enjoy introducing their children to the joy of a good story. Great characters even if they happen to be ducks!
These two precious little ducklings give us "humans" a beautiful example of how love, friendship, caring, kindness, fortitude can bring families, friends, communities together to overcome what seems impossible! This is not just a book for children, it's for all ages!
The illustrations are beautiful! One look at the pictures of Lillybeth and Hinsberth and you fall n love with them!!
